Interim Group Financial Controller

We are seeking an experienced Interim Group Financial Controller to join a PE-backed, sub-£50m turnover portfolio company operating in the professional services/management consulting space.

This is a hands-on, technically strong interim mandate combining:

• Backfill for the Group Financial Controller (3-month sick leave cover), and
• Delivery of an existing FP&A and investor reporting requirement.

Reporting directly to the CFO you will play a pivotal role in delivering robust group consolidation, budgeting and investor reporting during a critical period that includes the March year-end audit and annual budgeting cycle.

This is a high-impact assignment within a lower mid-market, c.200-person business backed by private equity investors, offering meaningful exposure to group reporting, banking relationships and systems optimisation.

This is not a managerial oversight role. We are looking for someone who can roll up their sleeves and execute.

Monthly group consolidation and reporting

• Consolidation of c.12 entities
• Multi-currency exposure
• Ownership of month-end adjustments and technical accounting queries

Budgeting & forecasting

• Lead group budget consolidation (April year-end)
• Iterate with subsidiary finance managers
• Scenario modelling and sensitivity analysis

Investor & bank reporting

• Preparation of reporting packs
• Ad hoc analysis and responses to PE investor queries
• Data preparation and presentation support for lender reporting

Year-end audit support

• Preparation for March year-end audit
• Liaison with external auditors
• Net Suite consolidation and revenue recognition optimisation
• Work alongside external implementation partner

Technical support to team

• Provide guidance to 4 junior finance team members (AAT/ACCA)
• Support month-end processes and accounting judgement areas
• No formal line management required

Experience required:

• ACA, ACCA & CIMA Qualified
• PE experience sub £100m turnover company size
• Strong technical accounting skills FRS 102 (UK GAAP)
