Hours per week: 37

Working pattern: Monday - Thursday 7.5 hours, Friday 7 hours

We are seeking a proactive and highly organised Estates Supervisor to lead our onsite estates and cleaning teams in delivering a safe, secure, compliant, and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors.

This is a hands‑on leadership role where you will oversee caretaking, maintenance, cleaning and contractor activities across our campus, ensuring our facilities are maintained to the highest standards and remain fully compliant with statutory requirements.

About the Role

As Estates Supervisor, you will lead a team of caretakers, estates maintenance operatives, cleaning supervisors and cleaners to ensure the campus remains clean, safe, secure and operational at all times. You will be responsible for coordinating planned and reactive maintenance, supervising contractors, monitoring compliance activities, and ensuring exceptional cleaning standards throughout the college.

Working closely with the Estates Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining the college estate, supporting service improvements and ensuring a positive experience for all campus users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate the estates, caretaking and cleaning teams to ensure a safe, secure and well‑presented campus.
  • Oversee building maintenance, repairs, compliance activities and contractor management across the college estate.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, health and safety, and statutory compliance.
  • Manage staff rotas, resources, training and performance to ensure an efficient and responsive service.
  • Support campus operations through effective security arrangements, emergency response and day‑to‑day estates management.
About You

You will be a confident team leader with experience in estates, facilities management, maintenance or cleaning operations. You'll be practical, solutions‑focused and committed to providing outstanding customer service.

  • Experience supervising operational teams.
  • Knowledge of building maintenance, cleaning operations or facilities management.
  • Understanding of health and safety legislation, including COSHH requirements.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and respond effectively to changing business needs.
  • A hands‑on approach and willingness to support operational activities when required.
  • Good IT, literacy and numeracy skills.
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, security and customer service.
