Medical Surgical​/Telemetry Unit - Travel Registered Nurse

Shift: 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 2 years of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

• Trauma Level 2 experience is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Virginia license or compact license (required for submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >100 miles from facility to be submitted.

• Flu vaccination required for submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• Anyone currently working at this facility cannot be submitted.

Teaching hospital experience is preferred.

Community hospital experience is preferred.

Required Credentials:

BSN required for international clinicians.

Unit Details:

Contract RN/LPN team members are expected to actively participate in nursing student support and clinical education as they prepare future nurses for the profession.

Clinical nursing student education responsibilities are expected in addition to and alongside clinical care practice in every nursing specialty at Ballad Health.

Adult and geriatric patient population.
3000 typically sees general medical, acute-care patients with longer lengths of stay.
3100 sees more renal/cardiac patients, while 3200 sees more pulmonary/cardiac patients and is where the unit attempts to place all COVID-19-positive patients.

COVID/TB patients are preferred for placement in 3200 only.

Patient population includes bacteremia, sepsis, altered mental status, heart failure, renal failure (hemodialysis and PD), electrolyte abnormalities, diabetes, GI bleeds, endo (pre/post-op), cellulitis, chest pain observation, and pneumonia.

Continuous bladder irrigation is used on the unit.

Shift & Scheduling:

Shift may be 3x12 or 4x12.Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week.

Rotating weekends/holidays.

No call.

Floating Requirements:

PCU competencies preferred.

14 days maximum time off

2 Charge/Lead/Supervisor references required

• NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale)

• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)

• OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse)
