American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2 years of specialty experience, BSN, and PA compact/state licensure.
Requirements- Active PA or Compact RN license required
- BSN required
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Current certifications required: NRP, ACLS, BLS
- AWHONN Intermediate or Beginner certification required (Advanced preferred)
- Experience with high-risk antepartum, high-risk delivery, and fetal monitoring (external and internal) required
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood products
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred due to high-acuity, fast-paced unit
- Valid references and copies of certifications required for consideration
- PA fingerprint clearance and background check required
- Pass/fail clinical exam required for consideration
- Labor and Delivery unit within a teaching hospital setting
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- 13-week assignment length
- Patient ratio of 1-2
- No floating required
- Weekend requirement of every 3rd weekend, including Friday/Saturday nights
- No on-call requirements
- Holiday coverage required for at least 1 of Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, or New Year's Day
- Uses Epic charting system
- Scrubs provided
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum management
- Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and vaginal births including forceps/vacuum extraction as needed
- Manage medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and other obstetric medications
- Provide neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and initial resuscitation support
- Monitor fetal heart rate patterns and recognize/treat abnormalities using EFM and IUPC placement
- Support postpartum recovery including care for hemorrhage, multiple births, and cesarean section patients
- Care for high-acuity patients with conditions such as pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, and placenta previa
- Candidates must reside within 50 miles for local rate consideration, though local candidates are accepted at a different rate
- Experienced travelers preferred due to the high-acuity, fast-paced nature of the unit
