Business Development Manager - Merchant Operations

Responsibilities:

Support the Business Development function by driving merchant-related operational improvement initiatives.

Act as a bridge between Business Development, merchants, and internal supporting functions including Product, Delivery Operations, Marketing, Finance, and other relevant teams.

Collect merchant and business feedback, identify operational pain points, and translate them into clear action points or requirements for internal teams. Coordinate with Product teams on merchant-related product enhancements, system optimization, feature requests, and process improvements.

Work closely with Delivery Operations and other supporting functions to identify and resolve issues affecting merchant operations, order flow, delivery experience, and service performance.

Coordinate with Marketing, Finance, Product, Operations, and other supporting functions on merchant-related initiatives and internal requirements. Develop and maintain dashboards with Product and relevant supporting functions to monitor merchant performance, product usage, operational performance, and key business metrics.

Analyze performance data, identify trends and gaps, and recommend improvement opportunities. Provide regular performance insights and updates to Business Development and relevant internal stakeholders. Support the testing, rollout, and adoption of new merchant-facing products, features, tools, and operational processes.

Drive and follow up on cross-functional initiatives involving Business Development and supporting functions. Track merchant-related issues and improvement initiatives from identification through resolution. Ensure smooth communication and alignment between the local team and Chinese-speaking central or regional teams.

Support the continuous improvement of merchant operation SOPs, workflows, dashboards, and internal coordination processes.

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations, E-commerce, or a related field. Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in merchant operations, business operations, product operations, marketplace operations, business development, or a related field.

Candidates with 5+ years of relevant experience are preferred. Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English, both written and spoken. Strong cross-functional coordination and stakeholder management skills. Good understanding of merchant operations, digital products, and operational workflows.

Experience collaborating with Product, Delivery Operations, Marketing, Finance, and other supporting functions. Strong analytical skills with experience in dashboards, reporting, and performance tracking.

Ability to identify business issues, structure requirements, coordinate stakeholders, and follow through on execution.

Strong communication, problem-solving, project management, and execution skills. Comfortable working in a fast-paced and cross-cultural environment.

Key role supporting merchant operations and cross-functional business improvement. High exposure to Product, Delivery Operations, Marketing, Finance, and central teams.

Experience in food delivery, e-commerce, marketplace platforms, retail, logistics, or related industries. Experience in merchant operations, product operations, or merchant lifecycle management. Familiarity with dashboards, reporting tools, and data-driven performance management. Previous experience working with Chinese-speaking central or regional teams is preferred.
