Position

Wood is recruiting for an experienced Civil Supervisor as part of our Construction team within our Oil, Gas & New Energies business based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The position is full‑time, on‑shore site based.

Objective

Construction Management assures the quality and integrity of each project, bringing projects in on schedule and within budget. Using in‑house construction management procedures and experience, provide continuity and consistency of construction management with quality assurance and reliable control. Oversees all aspects of field construction of small projects or an area or discipline of larger projects, including direction of construction specifications, budgets and schedules.

Generally responsible for construction scope(s) with value up to 25 million USD.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for construction and contractor related deliverables.
  • Supervises all areas on small projects or a subset/discipline area on moderate‑sized projects.
  • Responsible for management and execution of a single field discipline or a subset of assigned construction project(s) in accordance with the requirements of the contract.
  • Responsible for execution of the work in accordance with the quality standards and requirements specified for the project.
  • Manages and controls project cost and schedule of assigned discipline/subset of on‑site construction.
  • Manages installation, commissioning and completion activities for selected materials and equipment.
  • Monitors work progress and reports against the plan.
  • Ensures safety, quality and environmental responsibilities and accountabilities are defined and communicated to workers in area of control.
  • Ensures all workers in area of control receive appropriate training to perform their work safely, legally and competently, including Health and Safety and site‑specific inductions.
  • Initiates safety, quality and environmental processes within area of control, including toolbox meetings, inspections, and risk identification, assessment and control in accordance with WOD and client requirements.
  • Utilises commercial processes to capture variations effectively.
  • Coordinates supply and delivery of equipment, subcontractors, consumables, accommodation and other project‑specific requirements in line with client/contract specifications and Wood Policies & Procedures.
  • Understands and manages the industrial relations environment impacting the site and reports any issues as required.
  • Works with engineering in the design phases to influence design for optimum constructability.
Qualifications
  • Typically minimum qualified to ISCED Level 5 (technical diploma/apprenticeship) or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
  • Appropriate level of field construction experience, typically gained through a minimum of 5 years of post‑qualification experience in a relevant industry.
  • Well organised, observant, good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Displays good judgment and leadership qualities.
  • Ability to work with timelines/targets.
  • Ability to be assertive and drive culture change when required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, communication and team‑building skills.
