Civil Supervisor

Job Description

Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced Civil Supervisor as part of our Construction team within our Oil, Gas & New Energies business based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT assures the quality and integrity of each project, bringing projects in on schedule and within budget. Using in-house construction management procedures and experience, provide continuity and consistency of construction management with quality assurance and reliable control. Oversees all aspects of field construction of small projects, or an area or discipline of larger projects, including direction of construction specifications, budgets and schedules.

Generally responsible for construction scope(s) with value up to $25M.

• Responsible for construction and contractor related deliverables
• Supervises all areas on small projects or a subset/discipline area on moderate‑sized projects
• Responsible for management and execution of a single field discipline or a subset of assigned construction project(s) in accordance with the requirements of the contract between the company and the client, and the company’s operating policies and principles.
• Responsible for execution of the work in accordance with the quality standards and requirements specified for the project.
• Manages and controls project cost and schedule of the assigned discipline / subset of on‑site construction.
• Manages installation, commissioning and completion activities for some materials and equipment.
• Monitors work progress and reports against the plan.
• Ensures safety, quality and environmental responsibilities and accountabilities have been defined and communicated to workers engaged within the area(s) of control.
• Ensures all workers within their area(s) of control receive appropriate training to perform their work safely, legally and competently, including Health and Safety and site‑specific inductions.
• Initiates safety, quality and environmental processes within their area(s) of control, including toolbox meetings, inspections and the identification, assessment and control of risks in accordance with Wood and client requirements.
• Co‑ordinates supply and delivery of equipment, subcontractors, consumables and accommodation.

• Understand and manage the industrial relations environment impacting the site and report any issues as required.
• Work with engineering in the design phases to influence the design for optimum constructability.

• Typically minimum qualified to ISCED Level 5 (technical diploma / apprenticeship) or equivalent.

• Appropriate level of field construction experience, typically gained through a minimum of 5 years of post‑qualification experience in a relevant industry.

• Well organized, observant, good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Displays good judgment and leadership qualities.
• Ability to work with timelines/targets.
• Ability to be assertive and drive culture change when required.
