Civil Engineering, Site Manager
- Lead and manage the entire civil construction scope for EHV substation projects from mobilization to completion and handover.
- Plan, supervise and control all civil site activities including:
- Site preparation and temporary facilities
- Earthworks and grading
- Foundations and structural concrete works
- Buildings, trenches, duct banks and underground services
- Roads, paving, drainage and external infrastructure
- Coordinate closely with electrical, MEP and commissioning teams to ensure proper interface management and avoid delays to equipment installation and energization milestones.
- Manage and supervise civil subcontractors, construction engineers, foremen and supervisors to ensure productivity, quality and adherence to schedule.
- Ensure availability of manpower, materials, equipment, tools and approved drawings at site to maintain progress.
- Participate in technical and progress meetings with the client, consultant and internal stakeholders, and provide clear updates on civil progress, constraints and mitigation actions.
- Ensure strict compliance with HSE requirements, safe systems of work, permit conditions and company safety procedures.
- Coordinate all testing, inspections and handover activities related to the civil scope and ensure readiness for subsequent E&I installation activities.
- Maintain proper site documentation, records, daily reports, progress photographs and tracking of key construction deliverables.
- Drive timely completion of the project while maintaining required standards of safety, quality, cost control and client satisfaction.
- Prior experience on TAQA / TRANSCO / transmission utility projects in Abu Dhabi will be a strong advantage.
- Experience on 400kV GIS substations and major transmission infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
- Strong leadership personality with the ability to manage multicultural site teams and subcontractors.
- Capable of working in a client-facing environment with high expectations on quality, schedule and reporting.
- Practical problem solver with strong coordination and follow-up skills.
- Strong technical knowledge of civil construction works for EHV substations including:
- Reinforced concrete structures and heavy equipment foundations
- Steel structure foundations and anchor bolt setting
- Earthworks, formation levels and subgrade preparation
- Underground drainage, storm water and foul water systems
- Cable trench and duct bank construction
- Roads and hardscape works within substation compounds
- Fire-rated buildings and control room civil works
- Sound understanding of substation layout requirements and interfaces with:
- GIS / AIS equipment
- Power transformers and reactors
- Control & relay buildings
- Cable routing systems
- Earthing and underground utility coordination
- Ability to review and interpret:
- IFC drawings
- Shop drawings
- Civil/structural calculations
- Method statements and ITPs
- Material submittals and technical approvals
- Good understanding of quality standards, testing requirements and construction tolerances applicable to utility infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with Abu Dhabi / UAE utility specifications, HSE requirements and authority standards is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in planning and reporting tools such as:
- Primavera P6 / MS Project (preferred for planning follow-up and look-ahead monitoring)
- MS Excel, Word and Power Point
- AutoCAD drawing review capability is preferred
- Strong knowledge of:
- Construction sequencing and site logistics
- Productivity monitoring and resource planning
- Material take-off verification and progress measurement
- Risk identification and mitigation during execution
- Good command of written and spoken English. Arabic is an advantage.
