Purpose
Responsible for the planning and preparation of detailed constructionprogrammes Tender Stage Support the Estimation Department in preparing tender programmes and technical submissions Execution Stage Assist the Project Manager in formulatinga viable project execution plan by reviewing project drawings and BOQ Define project activities durations andlogical relationships to establish the schedule Monitor progress and identify delays orslippages that may impact contractualmilestones Coordinate with consultants and subcontractors
Key OutputsThe Planning Engineer is responsible for:
- Identify labour, plant, and transportation requirements in line with project schedule.
- Review project documents, including drawings, specifications, BOQ, and contract conditions.
- Prepare construction schedules to align with project completion targets.
- Maintain the approved baseline programme.
- Conduct daily site visits to assess progress.
- Update the schedule daily based on current site conditions.
- Prepare and issue daily progress reports to the client.
- Prepare and issue weekly and monthly progress reports.
- Generate S-Curves from the approved programme and maintain as-built versions.
- Participate in weekly progress review meetings with the Project Manager to identify and address delays.
- Attend client progress review meetings.
- Coordinate closely with the site execution team.
- Monitor and coordinate all subcontractor activities.
- Liaise with the client's planning department during project execution.
- Track and report subcontractor progress daily.
- Maintain and update tender programmes and technical submissions.
- Manage time claims and maintain related documentation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the reporting manager.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Civil)
- Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management
- Proficient in interpreting drawings, specifications, and BOQs
- Skilled in planning software such as Primavera P3, P3.1, P6, and MS Project (2003 & 2007)
- In-depth understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) in construction management
- Ability to manually create network diagrams and calculate Early Start, Early Finish, Late Start, Late Finish, and Total Float
- Knowledge of Precedence Diagramming Method (PDM) and Arrow Diagramming Method (ADM)
- Proficient in MS Office tools such as Excel and Word
- Familiar with FIDIC Conditions of Contract (Red Book - 1999 edition) and Oman's Standard Conditions of Contract
- Willingness to adopt international best practices in Earned Value Management, involving collaboration across departments
- Good awareness of company Quality and HSE policies and procedures
