Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveyor, Site Manager
The Civil Surveyor will be responsible for carrying out accurate land topographic setting-out and construction surveys for civil and infrastructure works. The role requires close coordination with project engineers site teams consultants and subcontractors to ensure that all works are executed in accordance with approved drawings coordinates levels dimensions and project specifications. The Civil Surveyor will be responsible for maintaining accurate survey records establishing and protecting survey control points verifying completed works and immediately identifying and reporting any discrepancies that may affect construction.
Key Responsibilities SurveyingSetting Out. Carry out setting-out works for buildings foundations roads utilities drainage infrastructure and external works Establish and maintain survey control points benchmarks reference points grids coordinates and levels Transfer coordinates elevations and reference lines from approved drawings to site Set out excavation boundaries formation levels foundations columns walls slabs roads kerbs utilities and other civil works Verify dimensions alignment levels slopes and coordinates before and during construction Conduct topographic and existing-condition surveys Perform pre-construction construction-stage and final surveys
Construction VerificationVerify completed works against approved IFC drawings and specifications Check foundation locations levels dimensions and orientations before concrete works Verify road levels gradients slopes and alignments Check underground utility routes invert levels manholes chambers and associated infrastructure Conduct independent checks before critical construction activities Immediately report discrepancies between actual site conditions and approved drawings
As-Built SurveysConduct accurate as-built surveys for completed works Record final coordinates elevations dimensions and locations Coordinate with draftsmen and engineers for preparation of as-built drawings Maintain complete survey data required for project handover Ensure as-built information accurately represents actual site conditions
Survey EquipmentOperate Total Stations GPS GNSS equipment Auto Levels Digital Levels and other surveying instruments Perform routine equipment checks and calibration verification Ensure survey equipment is properly maintained protected and stored Maintain calibration certificates and equipment records Report defective or inaccurate equipment immediately
Earthworks InfrastructureConduct existing ground-level surveys Establish excavation and filling levels Monitor formation and finished levels Assist with earthwork quantity verification Carry out surveys for roads parking areas interlock kerbstones drainage sewerage water networks electrical routes and other infrastructure Verify slopes and drainage gradients
DocumentationMaintain daily survey records and field books Maintain benchmark and control-point registers Prepare survey reports and coordinate calculations Maintain electronic survey data in an organized manner Ensure proper naming storage backup and traceability of survey files Maintain records of survey inspections and approvals Provide survey information required for inspections measurements and project documentation
