Senior Design Architect

An international architectural and engineering consultancy require a design-focused Senior Architect to join our growing Architecture Department in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate shall be responsible for leading and coordinating architectural projects from concept initiation through detailed design, tender, and construction support stages while ensuring high-quality design delivery, multidisciplinary coordination, and compliance with project requirements and authority regulations.

The Senior Architect will play a key role in initiating new projects, developing architectural concepts, managing technical coordination, supporting project delivery, and leading architectural teams in collaboration with internal departments, clients, authorities, contractors, and external consultants.

• Support the development of concept ideas, design diagrams, and 3D studies.
• Develop architectural designs from concept through to detailed design stages.
• Lead and coordinate architectural design development across all project stages from concept through tender and construction support.
• Ability to initiate and lead new projects from early stages, including understanding client requirements, preparing initial architectural concepts, space planning, 3d renders, design studies, and project setup.
• Support the Head of Architecture and Design in establishing project design direction, project strategy, and early-stage coordination for new projects.
• Review architectural drawings, specifications, technical submissions, and project documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements, authority regulations, company standards, and applicable codes.
• Coordinate architectural design with Structure, MEP, Interior Design, Landscape, and specialist consultants to ensure fully integrated project delivery.
• Supervise and support Architects and junior team members in workload planning, technical development, and day-to-day project activities.
• Manage and monitor project deliverables, submission schedules, and architectural resources to ensure timely completion of project milestones.
• Review and assess design changes, value engineering proposals, and technical modifications while maintaining project quality, functionality, and design intent.
• Participate in client meetings, authority meetings, technical workshops, and multidisciplinary coordination meetings as required.
• Prepare responses to architectural RFIs, technical queries, authority comments, and client comments in a timely manner.
• Review and approve architectural drawings and documents prior to submission to clients, authorities, contractors, and subconsultants.
• Monitor architectural design quality and ensure compliance with company QA/QC procedures and project standards.
• Coordinate BIM/Revit architectural models and ensure proper integration with multidisciplinary models and project BIM standards.
• Review project progress reports and provide technical input and recommendations to management.
• Maintain proper project records, documentation, revision logs, and coordination trackers.
• Prepare minutes of meetings assigned within the project communication matrix if needed.
• Coordinate design and construction issues with all relevant departments and stakeholders during design and construction stages.
• Mentor and guide junior staff to support technical development and continuous improvement within the architectural team.
• Ensure that all architectural documents comply with local authority requirements, international standards, and applicable regulations.

• Minimum 8–12 years of experience in architectural consultancy.
• Strong experience in UAE projects and authority regulations.
• Strong capability in architectural planning, conceptual thinking, and early-stage project development.
• Experience in handling projects from concept initiation through IFC and project delivery.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong knowledge of multidisciplinary coordination and project delivery processes.
• Experience in managing architectural teams and coordinating with clients and authorities.
• Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work under tight deadlines.
• Proactive mindset with the ability to take initiative, assume ownership, and lead architectural tasks and project stages with minimal supervision.
• Experience in high‑rise, mixed‑use, residential, commercial, or large‑scale developments is preferred.
