Senior Exterior Designer (Automotive

We're looking for a senior exterior designer to work with us on a freelance basis, remote or on-site. You'll need automotive industry experience and a portfolio that proves it. We're hiring on the work, not the resume, so if the surfaces and renders are strong, that's where the conversation starts.

What you'll actually do

Develop exterior and interior design directions for vehicle programs from early ideation through to presentation ready visuals. You'll work from design intent, references, and direction from our design team, and push proposals forward using AI generation, Alias, and Photoshop in combination. You'll be expected to iterate fast, defend your choices, and know when a surface or graphic move actually serves the vehicle versus when it's just a nice picture.

Software requirements

Must have:

• Autodesk Alias, at a level where you can take a direction from sketch or reference through to clean surfacing
• Photoshop, for rendering, retouching, and presentation quality output
• AI generative tools for design ideation and visualization. Specifically, Vizcom, Optic, and Lora based workflows. You should know how to control these tools with intent, not just prompt and hope
• Strong visualization skills. Your renders need to read as production intent, not concept art

Plus:

• Sketching, traditional or digital
• Experience with VRED, Key Shot, or similar for lighting and material studies
• Blender or another 3D tool for quick form checks

Who you are

You've worked on real automotive programs and can talk through at least one from early direction to finished surface. You understand proportion, stance, and why a design decision holds up under scrutiny, not just under a nice render angle. You treat AI tools as part of your process, not a replacement for design judgement, and you can explain the difference between a generated image that looks good and one that's actually resolvable.

You work well independently, communicate clearly async, and hit deadlines without needing to be chased.

The arrangement

Fixed term contract, 6 months, starting as soon as we find the right person. Remote or on-site in Abu Dhabi, candidate's choice, though on-site availability during key review points is a plus.
