The Consultant in Pediatric Oral and Maxillofacial – Craniofacial Surgery provides expert assessment, diagnosis, surgical treatment, and long‑term management of infants, children, and adolescents with congenital and acquired craniofacial disorders (Qualification Source from: Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, Germany, Australia or New Zealand)
Education/Qualification- Basic medical degree from recognized institution
- Post‑qualification certification
- Qualification Source from:
North America, Austria, Blegium, France, Germany, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden Switzerland Australia OR New Zealand.- USA:
American Board of Maxillofacial (ABOMS) - Canada:
Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada – Maxillofacial Surgery (FRCD-C) - UK: GMC Specialist Register — Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (with CCT in OMFS)
- Ireland: IMC Specialist Register — Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (with CCT in OMFS)
- Germany:
Facharzt Speciality in Maxillofacial Surgery - Australia and New Zealand:
Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in Oral and Maxillofacial
- USA:
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience post‑board/equivalent certification in Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland (CCST), United Kingdom (CCT) Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden OR Switzerland,
- Sub‑Specialties:
Minimum of two (2) years of experience post‑sub‑specialty certification in Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, or the UK.
- Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
- Assess, diagnose, and manage congenital and acquired craniofacial conditions in infants, children, and adolescents
- Perform comprehensive clinical evaluations and interpret diagnostic studies, including CT scans, MRI, 3D imaging, and genetic assessments when appropriate
- Perform complex craniofacial reconstructive procedures, including correction of craniosynostosis, cleft‑related craniofacial deformities, facial asymmetry, and congenital skull and facial abnormalities
- Manage pediatric facial trauma, craniofacial tumors, soft tissue defects, and deformities resulting from disease or injury
- Plan and perform craniofacial reconstruction using advanced techniques such as bone grafting, distraction osteogenesis, and microsurgical reconstruction when indicated
- Provide preoperative assessment, perioperative management, and long‑term postoperative follow‑up
- Participate in multidisciplinary craniofacial clinics with neurosurgery, pediatric surgery, ENT, orthodontics, dentistry, genetics, speech therapy, and psychology services
- Develop individualized treatment plans considering facial growth, functional needs, airway, vision, hearing, speech, and psychosocial development
- Provide emergency management of complex craniofacial injuries when required
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, operative reports, and patient records
- Participate in quality improvement programs, clinical audits, research, and development of craniofacial surgery protocols
- Supervise and train residents, fellows, and junior medical staff
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, and infection prevention protocols
