Consultant Psychiatrist - Addictions

We are supporting a reputable healthcare provider in the UAE in recruiting an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist with a strong clinical background in Addiction Medicine, Substance Use Disorders and Rehabilitation Psychiatry.
This opportunity is ideal for a psychiatrist who is passionate about supporting individuals through addiction treatment, recovery and long-term rehabilitation within a multidisciplinary clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnoses and treatment planning for patients presenting with substance use disorders, behavioural addictions and co-occurring psychiatric conditions.
• Manage complex cases involving alcohol, opioid, stimulant and other substance dependencies, including withdrawal management and relapse prevention.
• Develop and oversee individualised, evidence-based addiction treatment and rehabilitation programmes.
• Provide pharmacological and psychological treatment interventions, including medication-assisted treatment where clinically appropriate.
• Manage dual-diagnosis patients presenting with addiction alongside depression, anxiety, PTSD, personality disorders or other psychiatric conditions.
• Collaborate closely with clinical psychologists, addiction counsellors, nursing teams, social workers and other allied healthcare professionals.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews, clinical governance, risk management and treatment planning.
• Support continuity of care, discharge planning and long-term recovery strategies.

Candidate Requirements:

• Recognised Consultant Psychiatrist qualification, preferably with Western specialist training or board certification.
• Demonstrable clinical experience in Addiction Psychiatry, Substance Abuse Treatment or Rehabilitation Services.
• Experience managing complex addiction presentations and co-occurring mental health disorders.
• Strong understanding of evidence-based addiction treatment, detoxification protocols and relapse prevention.
• Proven experience working within multidisciplinary mental health or rehabilitation teams.
• Eligibility for DOH Consultant Psychiatrist license in Abu Dhabi.
• Additional fellowship training, subspecialty qualifications or specialist experience in Addiction Psychiatry would be highly advantageous.
