Teaching Faculty Position – Bio Physics and AI
Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) has launched its first Undergraduate (Bachelor’s) degree programs and is looking for passionate and highly motivated teaching faculty. The Undergraduate Division seeks faculty at all levels with expertise in Bio and AI or Physics and AI. The target candidate will teach part of an interdisciplinary course that explores the intersection of physics, biology, and artificial intelligence, equipping students with analytical and computational tools to model, simulate, and understand complex biological and physical systems.

This position requires a PhD or Master’s degree in Biophysics, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Computational Biology, AI/ML, or a closely related field.
Bio and AI- Theoretical and computational biophysics
- Machine learning and data analysis for biological systems
- Biomedical imaging and signal processing
- Molecular modeling and simulations
- AI applications in bioinformatics or health sciences
- Physics‑Informed Machine Learning (PIML):
Physics‑informed neural networks, with applications to fluid dynamics, plasma physics, elasticity, weather modeling - AI for Scientific Discovery in Physics with applications to material discovery and quantum chemistry – Gen AI designing materials with target properties
- Astrophysics and cosmology:
Deep learning for telescope image analysis, gravitational wave detection, dark matter inference - Foundational and Theoretical Intersections:
Statistical mechanics of learning, understanding generalization, loss landscapes, and over‑parameterization using physics analogies, or information theory and thermodynamics of computation – energy limits, entropy, physical cost of learning - Quantum Machine Learning (QML) at the intersection of quantum computing and artificial intelligence
- Teaching or research supervision experience at the undergraduate or graduate level (or equivalent professional training experience)
- Strong commitment to interdisciplinary education and innovative pedagogy
- Research or industry experience applying AI to biological/biomedical challenges or physics‑informed AI
- Experience with Python, MATLAB, PyTorch, or other scientific computing tools of the area
- Track record of mentoring students in cross‑disciplinary or project‑based learning
