The CoHS offers BSc. in Environmental Health and Safety, Public Health, Laboratory Medicine, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, and Molecular and Medical Genetics. There are opportunities for multidisciplinary inter‑college collaborative research across ADU, and inter‑institutional research collaborations in the Abu Dhabi area and U.A.E.

Essential Job Functions
  • Teach undergraduate courses to students in the Human Nutrition and Dietetics (HND) Program such as Food Chemistry, Food Processing, Food Microbiology and Sanitation, etc. May teach graduate level courses once the graduate program is opened.
  • Participate in conducting research and other scholarly activities in the areas of food science, food microbiology, food technology, etc.
  • Advance and disseminate knowledge through publication in appropriate refereed journals.
  • Advise, mentor, and evaluate undergraduate seminars, tutorials, and student research projects.
  • Plan hands‑on activities within didactic courses to fulfill clinical nutrition‑related knowledge and competencies such as case studies, role‑playing techniques, simulations, group discussions, and projects.
  • Perform ongoing review of curriculum and practicum activities to meet the accreditation standards.
  • Facilitate continuous assessment of the program - both didactic and practicum - and student learning outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain awareness on food science topics in the UAE community.
  • Function as an active member of the college and university faculty through participation in academic and professional services.
  • Engage in national and international professional activities.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Use strategies and skills necessary to support student learning and prepare and deliver current and relevant course material in an understandable and motivating manner.
  • Continually assess course objectives and instructional methods to improve teaching and learning.
  • Use formative and summative assessments of student learning within assigned courses to inform instruction and improve student attainment of course objectives and program outcomes.
  • Demonstrate a familiarity with a variety of instructional delivery methods, including digital platforms, group activities, and portfolios to provide educational content and opportunities supported by evidence‑based research and individual expertise.
  • Demonstrate a familiarity with Blackboard and other learning management systems.
  • Prepare a comprehensive course syllabus, to include approved student learning objectives/outcome evaluation form.
  • Work collaboratively with the program faculty, affiliated sites, and other academic units, as well as government agencies to effectively address Abu Dhabi and national program priorities related to food science.
  • Be familiar with the ACEND accreditation standards and ensure with other faculty and administrators that they met.
  • Teach courses for the BSc program in Human Nutrition and Dietetics on food science.
  • Direct student’s research and conduct research in collaboration with others.
  • Perform student academic advisement, hold office hours, and provide support to students with regard to program choices and career possibilities.
  • Support ADU’s outcomes initiatives by working to refine and revise course assignments and evaluation tools and participating in data analysis discussions to make program and course improvements.
