The role of Inclusion Assistant supports early intervention to promote educational and social development of students with additional support needs, under the guidance of the Head of Inclusion and Class Teacher.

• Provide support for individual pupils, within a group or individually, inside and outside of the classroom, to enable full participation in school activities.
• Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.
• Assist in the implementation of individual education programmes (IEP) and contribute to monitoring progress and attainment.
• Support pupils with additional support needs (academic, physical, emotional, behavioural) and help develop social and communication skills.
• Assist homeroom and subject teachers with maintaining pupil records.
• Prepare necessary resources to help students access or differentiate the curriculum.
• Promote independence by teaching clear and meaningful strategies.
• Support the aims of the school and comply with health and safety, code of conduct and other relevant legislation and policies.
• Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance.
• Attend training sessions and professional meetings as required.
• Collaborate with other professionals (speech therapists, occupational therapists, etc.) as needed.
• Build a close working relationship with homeroom and subject teachers and communicate regularly and openly.
• Undergo any additional duties as required by the Principal or Head of Inclusion.

• Adhere to confidentiality guidelines and respect communication channels with parents.
• Provide academic assistance and give individual or group instruction as prescribed.
• Demonstrate various instructional activities.
• Monitor, check and correct students’ work as per school policy.
• Keep pupils on task and praise achievements, reporting progress to the teacher.
• Prepare materials to scaffold classroom learning.
• Supervise pupils in classroom, specialist lessons and other locations.
• Participate in developing behaviour policy, promoting self‑esteem and discipline.
• Assist with therapeutic interventions (SaLT/OT/ABA) to generalise target skills.
• Attend ECA trips and visits.
• Experienced IA may mentor new IA.

Minimum Qualifications

• Diploma in Special Needs Education.

Minimum Experience

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Job Specific Knowledge & Skills

• Previous experience working with students whose first language is not English.
• A high level of professionalism and consideration of the well‑being of children.
• Recent and consistent involvement in extra‑curricular activities.
• Respect for all members of the school community, irrespective of position, gender, age and ethnic background.
• A positive and solution‑focused attitude towards work.
• Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check.
