• Provide support for individual pupils or groups of pupils inside and outside the classroom to enable full participation in a range of activities during the school day and to address their social, emotional, and physical well-being.
• Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.
• Assist in the implementation of individual education programmes for pupil groups, monitoring progress and supporting classroom teachers.
• Support pupils with additional needs (emotional and behavioural difficulties) and help develop their social skills.
• Assist class teachers with maintaining pupil records and preparing displays of pupils’ work.
• Support class teachers in photocopying and other tasks to support teaching.
• Support the aims of the school, comply with health and safety, relevant legislation, and school policies.
• Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality, and attendance.
• Attend team and staff meetings as required.
• Work with other professionals (speech, occupational therapists, etc.) as necessary.
• Undertake other duties from time to time as the principal requires.
• Academic assistance—giving group instruction, individual instruction, demonstrating activities, monitoring work, keeping pupils on task, praising achievements, reporting progress.
• Reorganise materials at the end of the day, check attendance, supervise pupils in classrooms and other locations.
• Participate in development of behaviour policy, promote pupil self-esteem, discipline misbehaviour in line with the whole school policy.

Minimum Qualifications: Secondary school certificate.

Minimum Experience: At least two years in a school setting.
