- Provide support for individual pupils or groups of pupils inside and outside the classroom to enable full participation in a range of activities during the school day and to address their social, emotional, and physical well-being.
- Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.
- Assist in the implementation of individual education programmes for pupil groups, monitoring progress and supporting classroom teachers.
- Support pupils with additional needs (emotional and behavioural difficulties) and help develop their social skills.
- Assist class teachers with maintaining pupil records and preparing displays of pupils’ work.
- Support class teachers in photocopying and other tasks to support teaching.
- Support the aims of the school, comply with health and safety, relevant legislation, and school policies.
- Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality, and attendance.
- Attend team and staff meetings as required.
- Work with other professionals (speech, occupational therapists, etc.) as necessary.
- Undertake other duties from time to time as the principal requires.
- Academic assistance—giving group instruction, individual instruction, demonstrating activities, monitoring work, keeping pupils on task, praising achievements, reporting progress.
- Reorganise materials at the end of the day, check attendance, supervise pupils in classrooms and other locations.
- Participate in development of behaviour policy, promote pupil self-esteem, discipline misbehaviour in line with the whole school policy.
Minimum Qualifications: Secondary school certificate.
Minimum Experience: At least two years in a school setting.
