About the RoleStudent Support Assistants play a crucial role in supporting the inclusion of pupils with additional educational needs in the school community. They normally work with an individual student, helping them overcome barriers to learning, such as English language difficulties, social, emotional and behavioural challenges, or other academic needs. The aim is to help pupils learn as effectively as possible in group and individual situations, inside and outside of the classroom.
In partnership with Class Teachers, they assist in developing and delivering a suitable programme of support both in the classroom and on a one‑to‑one basis.
- Support individual students to overcome barriers to learning.
- Assist pupils with English language difficulties, social, emotional and behavioural issues, or other academic needs.
- Work with Class Teachers to develop and implement suitable support programmes.
- Deliver both group and one‑to‑one support activities inside and outside the classroom.
Applicants should submit a CV, a letter of application, and details of two professional referees, one of whom should be the applicant’s current Line Manager.
