Student Support Assistants play a crucial role in supporting the inclusion of pupils with additional educational needs in the school community.

They normally work with an individual student, supporting them to overcome barriers to learning such as English language difficulties, social, emotional, and behavioural challenges, or other academic needs.

The aim of the role is to help the pupil learn effectively both in group and individual situations, inside and outside the classroom. In conjunction with Class Teachers, Student Support Assistants assist in developing and delivering a suitable programme of support within the classroom and on a one‑to‑one basis.
