Vision, Mission and Education Strategy

  • Articulate a vision for outstanding counseling and gain the commitment of all team members to the delivery of this vision.
  • Set a clear direction for counseling provision that leads to continuous improvement and promotes high quality outcomes for all students.
  • Support the development of policies and practices leading to high quality outcomes for all students.
  • Think creatively and imaginatively to anticipate and solve problems and identify opportunities.
  • Contribute to effective school self‑evaluation and improvement planning.
Operational Leadership
  • Set clear expectations and establish constructive working relationships with colleagues at all levels.
  • Facilitate collaborative work that dovetails and supports the Charter School vision and development, and its commitment to raising standards.
  • Foster a sense of "team spirit" through a culture of recognition and praise.
  • Communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • When required, chair meetings effectively, and make presentations to parents, colleagues and to Taaleem.
  • Judge when to consult with others and when to defer to the line manager.
  • Undertake any professional duties that may reasonably be delegated by the leadership.
Academic Performance Measurement
  • Be aware of the academic profile of students that are referred.
  • Support the identification of students at risk of underachievement.
  • Ensure effective links with teaching staff and other members of the student support team to meet the needs of students.
Well‑Being and Safety
  • Ensure an outstanding level of pastoral care and support is provided for all referred students.
  • Ensure that counseling support impacts positively on students’ progress and meets individual needs. Contribute to a culture of care at every level with respect to teachers and students and promote responsibility in order to ensure that the education objectives are delivered, and the morale of the school community is maintained to expected standards.
  • Promote the effective management of student behavior and safeguard the safety and welfare of children.
  • Be aware of the responsibility for personal Health, Safety and Welfare and that of others who may be affected by your actions or inactions.
  • Co‑operate on all issues related to Health, Safety & Welfare.
Counseling Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for the confidential counseling services to students as needed.
  • Provide guidance, advice and support to staff with regards to referred or at‑risk students. Maintain appropriate and confidential records.
  • Liaise with the Designated Safeguarding Leads on a frequent basis.
  • Deal with or report incidents that are seen or reported regarding students’ welfare.
  • Provide regular audit information such as numbers, age range and types of problems to the SLT. Provide First Aid mental health provision.
  • Continuously review and evaluate the service and produce an action plan as necessary. Take a lead on further developing the counseling service.
  • Develop effective partnership working with Mental Health provision locally.
School Procedures and Processes
  • Contribute to the development of administration procedures and processes in order to ensure the school operates effectively and efficiently.
  • Participate in meetings as necessary, some of which may be in own time.
  • Take responsibility for personal professional development, keeping up to date with research and developments which may lead to improvements in the counseling service provided.
  • Arrange and deliver relevant training for staff as and when needs are identified.
  • Assist in ensuring that Islamic and Arabic traditions and values, and Taaleem core values are embedded and lived, in order to build a consistent and distinctive value framework for students.
Feedback to Parents and Students
  • When appropriate, involve parents in their children’s development so that they have a positive impact on their children’s progress and achievements.
  • Participate in Open Days and school parent engagement activities.
Other Duties
  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role, as reasonably requested by the management.
