Aldar Education is seeking an outstanding Librarian (UAE National) for Bateen World Academy in Abu Dhabi for immediate start.
Bateen World Academy is an Outstanding rated by ADEK International school located in the vibrant city of Abu Dhabi. Responsibilities Main Duties- Develop and deliver ‘library information literacy’ sessions to enable students to find resources independently.
- Select and order new books appropriate to grades and interests, meeting teacher requirements.
- Liaise with teachers to distribute topic‑related resources to classrooms.
- Catalog all resources in the automated library system, ‘Destiny Follett,’ using the Dewey system, labeling and covering books.
- Maintain the library database, ensuring records of students and teachers are current.
- Follow up on overdue books, collect fees for lost or damaged items, and repair damaged books.
- Maintain an attractive library environment that accommodates quiet reading and independent study.
- Promote reading with attractive displays to encourage a love of books and recommend new releases to students.
- Arrange author visits and local book‑shop fairs.
- Run the ‘Book Club,’ consolidating orders, and distributing books when they arrive.
- Sign books in and out and re‑shelve returned books.
- Respond to enquiries from teaching and non‑teaching staff on postholder responsibilities.
- Comply with health and safety, legislation, and school policies.
- Assist in developing policies and procedures.
- Attend necessary training related to duties.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties within the overall function and level of responsibility.
Minimum Qualifications
Diploma in Library Studies / Information or Bachelor of Library Information / Studies.
Minimum Experience1–2 years experience as a librarian.
Job Specific Knowledge & Skills- Fluent English communication skills, written and oral.
- Arabic speaker preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills for daily contact with parents in a multicultural environment.
- Excellent office management skills.
