International Community Schools (ICS), Khalifa City Branch, is seeking a dynamic and dedicated English Language Teacher to join our thriving academic team for Cycle 2 and Cycle 3 students. We are committed to delivering an exceptional American curriculum education and fostering a supportive learning environment.

Job Description

As an English Language Teacher at ICT Khalifa City, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality English Language Arts instruction to students in Cycle 2 (Grades 6-8) and Cycle 3 (Grades 9-10). You will inspire a love for language and literature, develop critical thinking skills, and prepare students for future academic success within an American educational framework.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, prepare, and deliver engaging English Language Arts lessons aligned with the American curriculum.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and school leadership to support student development and well-being.
  • Actively participate in school events, professional development, and extracurricular activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Literature, Linguistics, or a closely related field from an accredited university.
  • Master's degree in Education, English, or a relevant subject area is highly preferred.
  • Valid teaching license or Teaching Diploma.
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of 4 years of full-time teaching experience in English Language Arts at the Cycle 2 (Grades 6-8) and/or Cycle 3 (Grades 9-10) level.
  • Experience in an international school environment is beneficial.

  • Pedagogical Expertise:
  • Proficiency in designing, delivering, and assessing engaging English Language Arts lessons aligned with American curriculum standards.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, including English Language Learners and students with varied learning styles.
  • Strong classroom management skills to ensure a productive and respectful learning environment.
  • Technical

    Skills:

  • Competency in integrating educational technology (Learning Management Systems, interactive whiteboards, digital resources) to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Data analysis skills to inform instructional decisions and monitor student progress.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, fostering collaborative relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

Curriculum Knowledge
  • In-depth understanding and practical experience with the American curriculum, specifically the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English Language Arts (ELA).
UAE-Specific Requirements
  • Compliance with all regulations and licensing requirements set forth by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK).
  • Successful completion of the ADEK teacher licensing process upon appointment.
  • Understanding and respect for local Emirati culture and traditions.
  • All educational qualifications must be attested by the UAE Embassy in the country of origin and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE upon arrival.
