Senior Instructional Designer

About The Role

The Instructional Designer is responsible for developing high-quality training materials and learning content in line with the programme curriculum and Systems Approach to Training (SAT) methodology.

• Design and develop lesson plans, training materials, presentations and learner resources aligned to approved curriculum and learning objectives.
• Apply instructional design principles and SAT methodology to ensure effective learning structure, sequencing and delivery.
• Work closely with subject matter experts to translate technical and operational content into structured training materials.
• Support the design of assessments, ensuring alignment with learning outcomes and performance standards.
• Ensure all materials are developed in line with approved templates, formatting standards and quality requirements (e.g. ESAT compliance where applicable).
• Maintain version control and organisation of training materials, ensuring updates are tracked and implemented.

• Higher education qualification in relevant field of study.
• Degree in education, instructional design or related field preferred.
• Experience in instructional design, curriculum support or content development.
• Experience in military or defence training environments; experience on large-scale training programmes.
• SAT or equivalent certification.
