Homeroom Teacher
About the Role
We are hiring a qualified and enthusiastic Homeroom Teacher for Years 5 & 6 in an upper primary British Curriculum school in AlAin, UAE. The successful candidate will be a Mathematics specialist with a strong background in teaching maths at the upper primary level and a proven ability to raise student achievement. Candidates should demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and a track record of effective teaching and assessment.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging Year5&6 lessons aligned with the British Curriculum.
- Plan and teach high‑quality Mathematics lessons.
- Prepare students for academic progression through effective assessment and targeted intervention.
- Monitor student performance and provide regular feedback.
- Promote an engaging, inclusive and positive learning environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues and parents to support student success.
- Create a safe, stimulating and inclusive classroom environment that promotes active learning.
- Support children’s academic, emotional, social, physical and creative development.
- Observe, assess and monitor children’s progress, maintaining accurate learning records.
- Differentiate learning activities to meet individual developmental needs.
- Encourage curiosity, creativity, communication and independent thinking.
- Establish positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
- Maintain effective classroom management and positive behaviour strategies.
- Participate in school events, meetings, parent consultations and professional development activities.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, child protection, health and safety policies.
We are particularly interested in applications from UK Nationals (NQTs encouraged to apply), Irish Nationals, South African Nationals and other native English‑speaking teachers with proven British Curriculum experience.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Bachelor’s Degree plus PGCE/PGDE (or equivalent).
Minimum 2 years teaching the British Curriculum preferred. Strong Mathematics teaching experience in Years5&6. UAE experience not required.
Preferred- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching licence.
