Librarian - Abu Dhabi, UAE
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Librarian for our prestigious library in Abu Dhabi, UAE. As a Librarian, you will be responsible for managing the library's resources and providing excellent customer service to our diverse community of users.
Responsibilities- Oversee the acquisition, organization, and maintenance of the library's collection of books, journals, and other materials
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for the use of library resources
- Assist patrons with research needs and provide guidance on information‑seeking strategies
- Provide reference services and assist with information retrieval for both physical and digital resources
- Plan and conduct library programs and events to promote literacy and engage the community
- Train staff on library systems, technologies, and customer service best practices
- Collaborate with other departments within the organization to meet the needs of students, faculty, researchers, and community members
- Stay updated on current trends in librarianship and make recommendations for improvements to enhance user experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Library Science or related field
- Minimum of 3 years experience working in a library setting
- Strong knowledge of cataloging systems, classification schemes, and information management tools such as MARC
21 or Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) - Excellent communication skills with fluency in English; proficiency in Arabic is a plus
- Experience with providing reference services using both print and electronic resources
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment
- Strong customer service skills with attention to detail
- Familiarity with current technologies used in libraries such as integrated library systems (ILS), electronic databases, e-books, etc.
