Reach British School seeks an outstanding, enthusiastic, adaptable and dedicated English Teacher for August 2026. The successful candidate will be passionate about the English language and literature and committed to delivering engaging, well-structured lessons that develop students’ reading, writing, speaking and analytical skills. The post holder will provide effective, personalised feedback in line with school policies on teaching, learning and assessment, ensuring students are supported, challenged and motivated to achieve excellent outcomes.
Keyresponsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons in line with the school’s curriculum and planning frameworks.
- Develop students’ reading comprehension, writing proficiency, vocabulary and critical thinking skills.
- Structure lessons effectively, maintaining pace, challenge and engagement while ensuring learning objectives are clear.
- Motivate and challenge all students through effective differentiation, including support for students of determination and EAL learners.
- Provide opportunities for discussion, debate, creative writing and analytical thinking, and promote a love of reading across a wide range of texts and genres.
- Set meaningful homework, incorporate peer and self-assessment, and maintain effective behaviour and resource management.
- Accurately assess formative and summative work, use data to inform planning, provide personalised feedback and complete reports in line with school policy.
- Integrate SMSC development and establish a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- A minimum of two years’ full-time teaching experience in the UK or in a British Curriculum school.
- Excellent knowledge of the National Curriculum for England (English) and current assessment practices.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage students in meaningful learning.
- Experience using data systems, student tracking, intervention strategies and reporting.
- A commitment to outstanding teaching and learning, confidence in using IT and digital tools, and a willingness to build strong partnerships with parents.
