Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in counseling
- 3+ years school based experience
- Mindset:
Demonstrate belief in all students in relation to success and access of counselling services, whereby all stakeholders understand the clear vision & support mechanisms that allow for social/emotional & academic development. - Professional Responsibilities:
Demonstrate a working knowledge of developmental, learning, counselling, and education theories. - Direct & Indirect services:
Can provide support in class, small group, large group and individual resources and sessions. - Referrals:
Has a clear understanding of school policies on counselling and is able to recognize the limits of school provision. Has a trusted network to signpost referrals and can articulate why diagnoses and long-term therapy is outside the school remit. - CPD:
Stays current with best practice and research. Proactive in attending relevant counseling courses. - Strong analytical skills and experience generating reports.
- Problem Solving Skills.
- Leadership skills, including people management, student management, and classroom management.
- Relationship Management skills with colleagues, parents, and students.
- Communication skills and ability to adapt to all levels.
