English Lead

Responsibilities

• Provide dynamic leadership of the English department across primary and secondary phases
• Develop and implement a clear vision and improvement plan for English
• Line manage and support departmental staff through performance management, CPD, and mentoring
• Design, develop, and oversee the delivery of a progressive English curriculum from EYFS to KS5
• Monitor, evaluate, and improve the quality of teaching and learning through observations and learning walks
• Use assessment data to track progress, identify trends, and implement targeted interventions
• Ensure pupils of all abilities, including SEND and EAL, are appropriately supported and challenged
• Foster cross-phase collaboration between primary and secondary English staff
• Uphold and promote the school's safeguarding policies and procedures

• Bachelor's Degree
• PGDE / PGCE
• Master's Degree preferred
• Minimum 4 years of experience
• Experience in leadership or departmental management
