Position Overview
Directional Drilling and LWD Field Engineer roles in Abu Dhabi with ADNOC Drilling are responsible for executing directional drilling and Measurement While Drilling and Logging While Drilling operations at the wellsite. The Directional Drilling and LWD Field Engineer implements directional drilling and LWD operations at the wellsite, ensuring accurate well placement, high-quality data acquisition, and compliance with ADNOC Drilling standards. The role involves assembling and programming downhole tools, supervising field activities, resolving complex drilling challenges, and acting as a technical focal point for customers and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities- Execute directional drilling and Measurement While Drilling and Logging While Drilling operations at the wellsite
- Assemble bottom hole assemblies according to approved well and engineering plans
- Prepare and program downhole tools and surface equipment for drilling and logging services
- Supervise operation, inspection, and maintenance of motors and downhole tools at rig site
- Generate daily logs, final well reports, and directional survey data for clients
- Maintain well profile plots and accurate equipment and service records
- Interpret, program, and troubleshoot LWD data received during operations
- Resolve moderately complex drilling and directional challenges using sound technical judgment
- Supervise and mentor junior field engineers, providing guidance on wellsite activities
- Coordinate with operations coordinators, drilling services teams, and other departments
- Communicate with client representatives regarding changes to drilling programs
- Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis when required
- Conduct all activities in compliance with ADNOC Drilling SOPs, HSE policies, and legal requirements
- Complete advanced technical training and wellsite development programs as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent
- Experience in directional drilling and MWD and LWD wellsite operations
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with downhole tools and equipment
- Ability to analyze drilling data and make sound operational decisions at the wellsite
- Good computer skills and ability to work with logging and reporting systems
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
- High attention to detail and ability to monitor data and equipment for extended periods
- Fluency in spoken and written English
