Risk Manager

Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced Risk Manager as part of our Engineering team within our Oil, Gas & New Energies business based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Due to the nature of the projects and client expectation, the position will be based full time at our Engineering Center in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The Risk Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the project risk management framework throughout all project phases from engineering and procurement through to construction and commissioning. The role ensures that all potential risks are systematically identified, assessed, mitigated, and monitored to support project delivery within scope, schedule, and budget constraints.

• Lead full project risk management for a large‑scale EPCm scope, covering commercial, variation, interface risks
• Partner directly with ADNOC and senior Wood leadership to drive risk strategy for a nationally significant energy asset
• Establish and maintain a robust risk framework, ensuring proactive identification, quantification, and mitigation across all project phases
• Influence major decisions at the programme level, contributing to successful execution of a project that will support the UAE’s long‑term gas infrastructure
• Interpret the results of the simulations and make sure the output makes sense and passes the laugh test
• Read the output and suggest the route ahead
• Understand how the risk needs to be applied to the schedule
• Shape the schedule with shortcuts and simplifications to achieve the right answer with the least effort
• Be engaged in project conversations in depth and comprehend when risk is identified both technically and commercially
