WSP is seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer – Bridges & Tunnels to join our team in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and delivery of major bridge and tunnel projects, working closely with Abu Dhabi‑based clients and authorities.
This position requires strong technical expertise in bridge design, a solid understanding of local standards and approval processes, and the ability to deliver high‑quality solutions on complex infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities- Lead and contribute to the concept, preliminary, and detailed design of bridge and tunnel structures
- Deliver structural designs in compliance with Abu Dhabi and UAE codes, standards, and authority requirements
- Prepare and review design calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including roads, geotechnical, drainage, utilities, and construction teams
- Interface directly with Abu Dhabi‑based clients and authorities, providing technical input and responding to comments
- Support design submissions, technical reviews, and authority approvals
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and graduates
- Identify and manage technical risks, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost‑effective design solutions
- Support value engineering, constructability reviews, and design optimization
- Assist project managers with programme, resource planning, and technical delivery
- Ensure designs align with WSP’s quality, safety, and sustainability standards
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree preferred)
- Minimum 8–12 years of relevant experience in bridges and tunnels design
- Demonstrated experience working on Abu Dhabi‑based bridge projects within a consultancy environment
- Strong knowledge of AASHTO, UK Standards, Eurocodes, and relevant UAE/Abu Dhabi standards
- Proven experience interacting with Abu Dhabi authorities and clients
- Proficiency in industry‑standard design software (e.g. MIDAS, LUSAS, RM Bridge, Civil 3D, or similar)
- Chartered or near‑Chartered status (ICE, IStruct
E, or equivalent) is highly desirable - Excellent communication and technical reporting skills
