Environmental Manager; Transportation - Rail & Metro

Job Description

The Environmental Manager is responsible for leading, managing, and implementing environmental strategies, compliance measures, and sustainability initiatives across major rail infrastructure projects. The role ensures that all environmental requirements are integrated into project design, construction, and operations in accordance with international and regional environmental laws, standards, and best practices.

• Develop, implement, and oversee the project's Environmental Management Plan (EMP) in alignment with UAE and Middle East regulatory requirements.>
• Ensure compliance with local environmental regulations, international standards (ISO 14001), and project-specific environmental commitments.
• Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIA) and mitigation strategies for all project phases.
• Lead sustainability initiatives to minimize environmental footprint and promote environmentally responsible construction methodologies.
• Monitor environmental performance metrics and recommend corrective actions where needed.
• Conduct environmental risk assessments and ensure all mitigation measures are effectively implemented.
• Lead internal and external environmental audits, inspections, and reporting.
• Liaise with client representatives, contractors, designers, and regulatory authorities.
• Provide environmental training and awareness sessions for project teams.
• Manage environmental specialists, consultants, and field teams.
• Ensure environmental requirements are embedded in design and construction plans.

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Master's degree and/or Chartered Engineer status preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in environmental management for rail infrastructure projects.
• Documented experience in at least one project of similar size and complexity.
• HSR (High-Speed Rail) project experience highly preferred and mandatory where required.
• Middle East/UAE experience preferred; local experience mandatory.
