The role of the Control System Analyst is to monitor and troubleshoot system errors, ensuring the integrity and performance of control systems at the plant and terminals. The analyst coordinates with maintenance disciplines to enhance system performance based on operation requirements, ensuring satisfaction and business continuity across company Distribution Fuel Storage Terminals & Depots, LPG plants, fleet, military depots, aviation, plant equipment, service stations, and deposits in all regions of the United Arab Emirates, including Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, DAF, and NE, covering 12 depots & plants and more than 540 service stations.
JobPurpose
To monitor and troubleshoot system errors, ensuring high level readiness of plant automation systems across multiple platforms including PLC and DCS. The analyst works with maintenance disciplines to enhance performance and meet operating requirements, ensuring business continuity and user satisfaction.
Key Accountabilities- Maintain availability of plant automation systems on multiple platforms (PLC, DCS) through regular checks and monitoring.
- Decipher process requirements through regular meetings, analyze complex system development or modification issues, and communicate with stakeholders to take timely action.
- Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge by attending workshops and reviewing professional publications.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, modify, and repair automation and network hardware, software, and communications problems with vendors and team members; prepare upgrade/replacement plans.
- Develop and maintain accurate documentation, monitoring reports, logs, and files; consolidate project documentation and software for future reference.
- Schedule weekly visits to prepare system/network performance and end‑user requirement reports for team leaders.
- Analyze threats related to cybersecurity and safety system implementation gaps and provide a comprehensive report.
- Train end users to use process automation systems and respond to work orders, inquiries, and requests from other departments.
- Develop training programs to ensure users understand system functionality and can operate it effectively.
- Meet with end users regularly to gather feedback and translate requirements into improvements.
- Provide training support for UAE nationals as part of the Emiratization process.
- Coordinate and participate in maintaining and enhancing process automation and network functionality.
- Assist with maintenance of network communications, cable repairs, and configuration problems.
- Prepare spare parts, backups, and system upgrade plans, ensuring proper installation and activation.
- Support maintenance of auxiliary automation systems related to tank gauging, air compressors, cathodic protection, flow metering, and fire alarm panels.
- Develop and implement management of change (MOC) when required.
- Plan, supervise, and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
- Train and develop assigned staff to enable proficiency and deliver section objectives.
- Provide input for department/section budgets and assist in implementation of approved budgets and work plans.
- Investigate and highlight significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.
- Implement approved policies, processes, systems, standards, and procedures to support execution of work programs in line with company and international standards.
- Comply with all applicable legislation and legal regulations.
- Contribute to the achievement of approved performance objectives for the department/section in line with the company performance framework.
- Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
- Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices to achieve greater efficiency in line with ISO standards.
- Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures, controls, and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines.
- Participate in emergency response duties as a team member.
- Bachelor’s degree in electronics, computer information systems, engineering, or a closely related field.
- At least 6 years of experience implementing, supporting, and maintaining process automation and controls in the Oil and Gas sector, preferably within both mid‑stream and downstream.
- Experience working with one or more of the following systems:
Honeywell and Emerson DCS, Rockwell, B&R, and Siemens PLC systems.
