We now have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Bridge Design Engineer
, based in Abu Dhabi
, to join our expanding team. In this role, you will bring technical expertise, lead elements of project delivery, and contribute to shaping some of the region’s most significant infrastructure developments.
Your key duties will include
- Delivering bridge projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, aligned with client expectations.
- Working directly with clients to develop technical solutions and support decision‑making.
- Managing workflow and coordinating delivery from global and remote design centres.
- Ensuring all designs comply with statutory, regulatory, and international standards.
- Producing robust, well‑considered design outputs, including technical and contract documentation.
- Championing a ‘right‑first‑time’ approach across project teams.
- Ensuring adherence to company management and quality assurance systems.
- Mentoring and developing junior and mid‑level engineers within the Bridges team.
We’re looking for an accomplished bridge design professional with strong technical grounding and the ability to lead and collaborate effectively.
Your knowledge and skills will include
- A degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (Master’s in Structures preferred).
- Proven experience delivering bridge projects within the Middle East (GCC).
- Extensive relevant Bridge Design experience; 12-15+yrs, including c.3+yrs working on rail, metro, or high‑speed rail bridge design.
- High proficiency with structural modelling and BIM tools (e.g., MIDAS, RM, Structural Bridge Design).
- Strong knowledge of Eurocodes, DMRB, AASHTO, and local/regional authority standards.
- Experience in design‑and‑build project environments.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong client and internal relationships.
- A collaborative, open, and supportive working style.
- Tenacity, drive, and the determination to deliver high‑quality outcomes.
- Progress towards chartered status or accreditation with a relevant engineering body.
- Flexibility for short‑term travel within GCC countries when required.
- High‑speed rail project exposure
- Experience on international projects (Europe, ANZ, North/South America)
- Professional‑level Arabic language skills
- Role will be based in Abu Dhabi, UAE
- We operate a hybrid working model (office/home)
- Occasional regional business travel may be required to support project and client needs, so a flexible outlook is required
