Réalis is looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The Nuclear & Power business has been operating for over 80 years and provides consultancy support to regional nuclear, power and infrastructure projects. We are looking for a talented individual to help grow our regional capability and deliver our diverse work streams around power and net zero energy, in particular gas-fired power generation, waste-to-energy, energy storage and renewables.
The individual will have a good level of autonomy, and will be working within a vibrant, talented and diverse team.
Your purpose will be :
To proactively meet and develop relationships with new and existing clients to understand their technical challenges and identify opportunities to support them.
Based in Abu Dhabi, you will lead our technical teams, delivering advisory and owner’s engineer roles to a range of power generation, energy storage and decarbonization projects across the Middle East region.

- Be involved in identifying, developing and managing key opportunities and client accounts.
- Be supported by a range of talented engineers, including graduate engineers, whom we expect you to coach and mentor.
- Be supported by strong project controls to ensure you can focus your attention on winning and delivering the most exciting energy transition projects in the region.
- Lead proposal engineering activities for multiple combined‑cycle power projects, ensuring alignment with EPC contractual requirements and project execution plans.
- Direct multidisciplinary engineering teams, overseeing resource allocation, technical integration, and on‑time delivery of engineering milestones.
- Monitor technical and financial progress, resolve complex engineering issues, and develop risk mitigation strategies to safeguard project timelines and budgets.
- Review tender specifications, conduct technical bid evaluations, prepare clarification queries, and lead client meetings to resolve technical gaps.
- Support engineering design reviews, including review of technical specifications, ensuring compliance with contract and quality standards.
- Lead coordination meetings with clients, consultants, OEMs, vendors, and EPC partners to align engineering inputs and resolve interdisciplinary design issues.
- Facilitate design review and 3D model review workshops with project stakeholders to validate constructability and engineering completeness.
- You’ll have strong interpersonal and communication skills which match your technical skills, in addition to having a sound commercial awareness. You’ll thrive on working outside of your comfort zone on new projects, involving others around you, to ensure the service we give to our clients is beyond their expectations. You’ll have good technical and commercial knowledge in one or more of our key market areas, namely : gas-fired power generation, waste-to-energy, energy storage or renewables.
- A strong educational background, including a good degree in mechanical, process or electrical engineering, or a related discipline
- At least six years’ experience in the energy consulting sector (not necessarily design or EPC)
- Strong fluency in spoken and written English
