OverviewA Sr. Flight Test Engineer plays an exciting role in advancing aerospace systems by helping develop, evaluate, and certify payload integration on airborne platforms. You’ll work closely with engineering teams, support real‑world test campaigns, and help turn technical concepts into operational capabilities—an ideal opportunity for hands‑on learners who thrive in dynamic environments.
Key Accountabilities- Test Planning:
Designing detailed test plans based on the test objectives, which often include performance, stability, and safety aspects. - Test Execution:
Conducting the actual flight tests, which may require the FTE to be on board the aircraft or in a control room monitoring various parameters. - Data Analysis:
Reviewing and analysing the data collected during the flight tests to assess the integration and its components against the expected outcomes. - Problem solving:
Identifying and diagnosing any issues that arise during the test phase, and proposing solutions or modifications to resolve those issues. - Reporting:
Preparing comprehensive reports that document the entire testing process, including the objectives, test results, conclusions, and recommendations for further action. - Collaboration:
Working closely with pilots, other engineers, and manufacturers to ensure tests are performed safely and effectively. - Safety Compliance:
Ensuring all tests comply with relevant safety standards and regulations. - Technical Support:
Providing technical support and advice to engineering teams based on the outcomes of the flight tests. - Project Management:
Managing the flight test phase of development, which includes scheduling, resource allocation, and budgeting.
