A key part of this role is performing tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure manufacturability, assembly fit, and reliable product performance, owning the CAD for large assemblies, managing and tracking changes, and creating drawings.
Key Responsibilities- Develop detailed 3D models and fully-defined 2D drawings using Solid Works.
- Execute tolerance stack-up analyses (linear, worst-case, RSS) to validate designs and ensure robust assembly.
- Apply GD&T (ASME Y14.5) principles to drawings.
- Create BOMs, drawing packages, and revision-controlled documentation.
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to optimize part geometry and tolerances.
- Update designs based on engineering changes, test results, and supplier feedback.
- Prepare design review content and support engineering discussions.
- Ensure CAD data is clean, standardized, and follows drafting practices.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
- 5 years of experience as CAD draftsman.
- Strong proficiency in Solid Works 3D modelling and 2D drafting.
- Hands‑on experience with tolerance stack‑up analysis and understanding of GD&T.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, manufacturing methods, and material properties.
- Good understanding of DFM/DFA principles.
- Strong attention to detail and structured documentation habits.
- Experience with PLM systems (Solid Works PLM, Windchill, or similar).
- Familiarity with machining, sheet metal, or plastic part design.
- Basic simulation knowledge.
- Understanding of precision mechanical assemblies or rotating machinery.
- Strong communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
