Research Assistant

Job Description

The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at the United Arab Emirates University is seeking a Research Assistant to support startup grant research in hydrogen-based aircraft propulsion and integrated energy systems. The Research Assistant will support the Principal Investigator in experimental preparation, laboratory setup, component testing, data analysis, literature review, and technical reporting. The candidate should contribute to research activities related to thermodynamics, propulsion, energy systems, and sustainable aviation technologies.

Preference will be given to candidates with academic training and research experience in mechanical, aerospace, or energy related fields.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a closely related field
• Good understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluids, energy systems, or propulsion
• Ability to support technical and experimental research work
• Good communication and technical writing skills
• Flexible approach and initiative in executing the role

• Experience in hydrogen systems, fuel cells, gas turbines, or aircraft propulsion
• Experience with CAD, simulation tools, laboratory instrumentation, or data analysis tools
• Demonstrable willingness to support laboratory and experimental work
• Ability to adapt to changing research needs and priorities
• Commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace
