Maritime Certifications and Flag Analyst

Company: Saipem

Location: United Arab Emirates / Abu Dhabi

Responsibilities
  • Carry out administrative activities in relation to ISM, ISPS and MLC 2006 frame agreements with certification bodies and contractual arrangements with flags.
  • Provide relevant assistance to support the vessel Master/OIM during ISM, ISPS and MLC 2006 certification processes.
  • Carry out specific ISM, ISPS, MLC 2006 shipboard surveys and studies as needed.
  • Provide market research related to maritime law and regulations.
  • Report the vessel’s incidents to the flag administration as required by Company Procedure and flags' rules and tools.
  • Carry out onboard Minimum Safe Manning assessment as required by Company procedures.
  • Support vessels in relation to flag certificates and official documents.
  • Contribute to safety, security, and labor management system monitoring activities.
  • Contribute to developing and updating relevant vessel documents.
  • Implement management of flag inspection and Port State Control as required by Company Procedure.
  • Submit timely required reports.
  • Carry out assigned ISM/ISPS internal audits and MLC 2006 inspections according to the yearly plan and beyond.
  • Verify compliance with flag requirements (ISM/ISPS/MLC 2006 relevance) as part of internal audit/inspection process.
  • Report internal audit/inspection results clearly, conclusively, and without undue delay through distribution of the internal audit report as required by company procedure.
  • Issue audit/inspection findings and follow up on rectification measures.
  • Ensure timely closure of findings and adhere to escalation measures per company procedure.
  • Verify effectiveness of corrective actions taken (Effectiveness Assessment).
  • Update relevant monitoring system with required information.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant studies (e.g., Maritime or Naval Engineering).
  • Valid Internal Auditor Certificate for ISM, ISPS, and MLC 2006 from a recognized training provider.
  • 2‑3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Advanced English language skills.
