Job OverviewStructural Analysis Engineer will be responsible for the stress & vibration analysis of the gas turbine components including compressors, turbines, shafts, bearing systems, and stationary structures within the turbojet and turbofan development programs. This role requires expert knowledge in mechanical design, integrity, gas turbine propulsion, planning for projects and ability to develop individuals.
Key Responsibilities- Design and optimize the gas turbine systems for life, weight, manufacturability and cost.
- Carry out thermo‑mechanical simulations at design, off‑design and far off‑design conditions to ensure safety and operability.
- Carry out creep, fatigue and fracture assessments.
- Carry out vibration and rotodynamic analysis.
- Carry out Stress Assessment, Low Cycle Fatigue and High Cycle Fatigue Assessments.
- Carry out FMECA (Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analysis) to support the safety and operability assessments.
- Support FEA methodology development activities.
- Support other team members, develop junior engineers and provide constructive feedback.
- Review the designs, simulations, prepare engineering reports and generate testing guidelines.
- Identify project risks and plan for mitigation.
- Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering degree or a related field.
- Strong background in gas turbine propulsion, mechanical design, integrity, and heat transfer.
- Solid background in Mechanics of Materials.
- Experience in whole engine structural analysis, clearance assessments is a plus.
- Experience in bearing performance assessment is a plus.
- Fluent in English.
- Experience:
5-15 years or more.
- Technical skills in one or a combination of stated topics.
- Proficient in one of design packages such as Solidworks, Siemens NX or similar.
- Expertise with commercial FEA Software (ANSYS, Hyperworks, Simcenter Nastran, etc.).
- Experience in FEA, or lower order simulation methods.
- Experience in programming using C, Matlab/Simulink or similar.
- Awareness of the state‑of‑the‑art technologies in materials, aerodynamics, and structural mechanics to link with structural analysis for gas turbine propulsion.
- Good communication and presentation skills to interact with team members, clients, and vendors.
- Ability to solve problems, prioritize tasks and delegate when necessary.
