Job SummaryThe Senior Compressor Aerodynamic Design Engineer is responsible for leading the aerodynamic design, analysis, and optimization of axial or centrifugal compressor systems for advanced gas turbine or turbojet engines. The role focuses on flowpath design, performance optimization, and operability across the full engine envelope, from concept through validation and testing.
Key Responsibilities- Aerodynamic Design & Development
- Lead aerodynamic design of compressor stages (axial and centrifugal)
- Develop flowpath geometry including blade profiles, annulus sizing, and stage matching
- Perform meanline and through flow calculations
- Generate and refine airfoil geometries for performance and efficiency
- CFD Analysis & Performance Optimization
- Conduct CFD simulations for compressor stages
- Optimize efficiency, pressure ratio, and flow capacity
- Analyze flow features including shock structures, secondary flows, and losses
- Correlate CFD results with test data and improve models
- Operability & Stability
- Assess and improve compressor operability including surge and stall margins
- Perform stability analysis and develop mitigation strategies
- Support transient and off‑design performance evaluation
- System Integration
- Collaborate with mechanical and system teams to ensure aerodynamic compatibility
- Support matching with combustor and turbine requirements
- Ensure proper interaction with inlet and exhaust systems
- Testing & Validation
- Support compressor rig and engine testing
- Define instrumentation and test requirements
- Analyze test data and correlate with predictions
- Technical Leadership
- Lead aerodynamic design activities within compressor module
- Drive innovation in compressor aerodynamic design
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
- 7–12 years of experience in compressor aerodynamic design
- Strong experience with turbo machinery aerodynamics and performance analysis
- Strong understanding of compressor aerodynamics and flow physics
- Experience with CFD tools (NUMECA, ANSYS Fluent, CFX, etc.)
- Experience with meanline and through flow design tools (NREC, AXSTREAM, ADT, etc…)
- Knowledge of compressor operability and stability (surge/stall)
- Familiarity with data analysis and post‑processing tools
- Experience in small turbojet and Turbofan
- Experience with multi‑stage axial compressors
