Advanced Turbomachinery Engineer II
About POWERTECH POWERTECH is a center of excellence for propulsion technologies, specializing in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of combustion engines, expendable turbojet engines, and turbofan engines for a wide range of aerospace, defence, and autonomous applications, including fixed‑and rotary‑wing UAVs and other advanced platforms.
Job OverviewThis role offers the opportunity to lead and shape the aerodynamic design and development of next‑generation turbo machinery for propulsion and power generation applications. You will play a pivotal technical leadership role, driving aerodynamic innovation across centrifugal and axial compressors, fans, and turbines. From early concept definition through detailed CFD analysis, rig testing, and validation, you will contribute across the entire product lifecycle while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and customers.
Key Responsibilities- Aerodynamic Research & Modeling
- Develop and refine 1D meanline, through flow, and reduced‑order aerodynamic models for compressors and turbines.
- Support aerodynamic design studies for centrifugal and axial turbo machinery components.
- Conduct parametric trade studies to evaluate performance, efficiency, stability margin, and operability.
- CFD & Advanced Numerical Analysis
- Perform high‑fidelity CFD simulations for on‑design and off‑design conditions using ANSYS CFX, Fluent, NUMECA Fine/Turbo, or equivalent tools.
- Generate high‑quality meshes using Turbo Grid, ICEM, Auto Grid, or similar tools.
- Investigate complex flow phenomena such as secondary flows, tip leakage, compressibility effects, and preliminary stall/surge mechanisms.
- Research & Technology Development
- Support internal R&T initiatives focused on advanced compressor and turbine aerodynamic technologies.
- Contribute to development and improvement of aerodynamic tool chains and automation workflows.
- Assist in correlating computational predictions with rig or engine test data.
- Testing & Validation Support
- Support rig test planning and aerodynamic data analysis.
- Perform data reduction and comparison with numerical predictions.
- Contribute to model calibration and improvement based on experimental findings.
- Collaboration
- Work closely with aerothermal, structural, mechanical design, and test teams.
- Participate in technical reviews and cross‑functional discussions.
- Support technical exchanges with academic and research partners when required.
- MS or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 3 to 5 years of hands‑on industry experience in turbo machinery aerodynamic design and development.
- Strong experience with aero gas turbine turbo machinery.
- Strong foundation in turbo machinery aerodynamics, heat transfer, and gas turbine performance.
- Proficiency with ANSYS CFD tools (CFX, Fluent, NUMECA Fine/Turbo, STAR CCM+); experience with NUMECA is a plus.
- Experience with geometry and meshing tools such as ICEM, Turbo Grid, and Auto Grid.
