Job Description & How to Apply Below
About POWERTECH
POWERTECH is a center of excellence for propulsion technologies, specializing in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of combustion engines, expendable turbojet engines, and turbofan engines for aerospace, defense, and autonomous applications, including UAV platforms.
Job SummaryThe Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for leading the mechanical design, development, and validation of turbo machinery components for gas turbine and turbojet engines. The role spans the full product lifecycle, from concept development through testing and production, ensuring structural integrity, durability, and manufacturability of both rotating and static components under demanding operating conditions.
Key Responsibilities- Mechanical Design & Development
- Lead design of key turbo machinery components, including shafts, discs, spacers, rotor assemblies, casings, frames, structural housings, sealing systems, and interfaces.
- Structural, Thermal & Life Analysis
- Perform and guide stress and deformation analysis.
- Low-cycle and high-cycle fatigue (LCF/HCF).
- Creep and thermal growth assessments.
- Vibration and rotor dynamics.
- Rotor dynamics & Bearings Integration
- Support design of rotating assemblies: rotor stack-up and load paths, critical speed separation and stability.
- Interface with bearing and lubrication systems: bearing selection and integration, oil system routing and sealing concepts.
- Manufacturing & Industrialization
- Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Assembly (DFA).
- Define materials, coatings, and heat treatments; manufacturing processes (machining, forging, additive).
- Testing, Validation & Failure Analysis
- Support engine build and test activities: instrumentation definition, test readiness and execution.
- Configuration & Product Maturity
- Manage design changes in coordination with configuration management.
- Support multiple product configurations (different customer variants).
- Technical Leadership
- Own mechanical design of modules or subsystems.
- Mentor junior engineers and review technical outputs.
- Drive design improvements, risk reduction, and innovation.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- 8–12 years of experience in turbo machinery mechanical design.
- Experience across full development lifecycle (concept → test → production → service).
- Experience in turbojet or small gas turbine engines.
- Strong background in bearings and lubrication systems, sealing technologies.
- Experience supporting production ramp-up with evolving designs.
- Familiarity with certification or qualification standards.
