- Assist in selecting project materials based on required specifications, standards, and performance criteria.
- Review and approve material submittals from suppliers to verify compliance with project requirements.
- Ensure all materials are sourced from approved suppliers and meet regulatory and environmental standards.
- Conduct laboratory and field testing of aggregates, concrete, asphalt, metals, and other construction materials.
- Monitor material quality during delivery, handling, storage, and transportation.
- Evaluate material performance throughout construction and recommend adjustments or substitutions as needed.
- Investigate material failures, perform root-cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure all materials meet durability, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Maintain comprehensive records of material tests, certifications, inspections, and approvals.
- Prepare detailed material reports including test results, performance assessments, and non-conformance findings.
- Coordinate with project managers, procurement teams, suppliers, and contractors to ensure timely availability of materials.
- Liaise with QA-QC teams to ensure material availability does not hinder project progress.
- Monitor material usage, wastage, and cost-efficiency throughout the project.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure proper material storage, handling, and installation.
- Identify risks related to material shortages, delays, or non-compliance and implement mitigation measures.
- Promote sustainable material choices and ensure environmental compliance.
- Train site teams on material handling, testing procedures, and quality control expectations.
- Assist with final inspections, material closeout, and documentation handover including warranties and certificates.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field.
- Strong understanding of material testing procedures, construction material standards, and quality control protocols.
- Experience with laboratory testing, field inspections, and material performance evaluation.
- Knowledge of aggregates, concrete, asphalt, metals, soil testing, and infrastructure materials.
- Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective coordination and communication abilities for working with suppliers, contractors, and site teams.
- Familiarity with environmental and sustainability requirements in material selection.
- Ability to manage documentation, test results, and large volumes of material data.
