Role Purpose
The BIM Coordinator oversees the implementation and coordination of Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes and technologies throughout large‑scale construction projects. Responsibilities include managing BIM workflows, data integration, and collaboration among project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes within the design department.
- Collaborate with design teams to ensure seamless integration of BIM methodologies.
- Provide support in the development of project‑specific BIM execution plans and standards in coordination with project stakeholders.
- Align BIM processes with project goals, timelines, and contractual requirements.
- Work closely with architects, engineers, and other design professionals to facilitate the collaborative use of BIM tools.
- Ensure consistent BIM standards are maintained across design disciplines.
- Oversee the development and management of 3D models and associated documentation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project specifications.
- Conduct clash detection analyses to identify and resolve conflicts in the design phase.
- Facilitate coordination meetings to address clashes and ensure design integrity.
- Stay updated on the latest BIM software and technologies.
- Provide training and support to design teams on BIM software tools.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure BIM deliverables meet established standards.
- Verify compliance with industry best practices, local regulations, and client requirements.
- Manage BIM data, including model versions, documentation, and other relevant information.
- Establish and maintain a structured and accessible data management system.
- Coordinate BIM processes and models with other project disciplines (e.g., construction, MEP) to ensure holistic project integration.
- Facilitate communication and data exchange between design and construction teams.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of company‑wide BIM standards and protocols.
- Ensure alignment with international BIM standards and industry benchmarks.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand their BIM requirements and expectations.
- Communicate BIM processes and benefits to project stakeholders.
- Conduct regular reviews of BIM models to verify compliance with design intent and project requirements.
- Provide feedback to design teams for continuous improvement.
- Organize and lead regular BIM coordination meetings with design and construction teams.
- Address and resolve BIM‑related issues to maintain project momentum.
- Generate regular reports on BIM progress, issues, and achievements.
- Provide updates to project management and stakeholders on BIM‑related activities.
- Facilitate the transition of BIM models and data to the construction phase.
- Collaborate with construction teams to ensure the seamless use of BIM in subsequent project phases.
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in civil engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in BIM coordination within the construction industry.
- Proven track record of managing BIM workflows for large‑scale construction projects.
- Experience in coordinating multidisciplinary BIM models and collaborating with diverse project teams.
- Proficiency in BIM software (Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360, etc.; CDE such as ACC).
- Strong understanding of BIM methodologies and principles.
- Familiarity with interoperability and data exchange standards (IFC, COBie).
