Job Description & How to Apply Below
Role Purpose
The Offshore Lead Engineer is responsible for the overall technical execution and leadership of offshore engineering projects. This role bridges the gap between onshore design teams and offshore operations, ensuring that structural, mechanical and subsea systems are engineered to the highest safety and performance standards. You will oversee the technical integrity of the project from FEED (Front‑End Engineering Design) through to installation and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities- Technical Leadership: Lead a multi‑disciplinary team of engineers in the design, analysis and implementation of offshore structures, pipelines or platforms.
- Project Oversight: Manage engineering schedules, budget estimates and resource allocation to ensure timely project delivery.
- Standards & Compliance: Ensure all engineering activities comply with international offshore standards such as API, AISC, DNV and local maritime regulations.
- Risk Management: Conduct and lead safety studies including HAZID, HAZOP and SIMOPS (Simultaneous Operations) to mitigate offshore operational risks.
- Vendor & Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients, subcontractors and third‑party verification bodies.
- Site Support: Provide technical guidance during the fabrication and installation phases, often requiring travel to offshore assets to troubleshoot real‑time engineering challenges.
- Quality Assurance: Review and approve technical drawings, calculation reports and procurement specifications for critical offshore equipment.
- Degree:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural, Mechanical, Civil, or Ocean Engineering. - Years of
Experience:
Minimum of 10–12 years in offshore engineering, with at least 5 years in a lead or supervisory capacity. - Project History:
Proven track record of delivering large‑scale offshore projects (e.g., Fixed Platforms, FPSOs, or Subsea Pipelines).
- Proficiency in industry‑standard software such as SACS, ANSYS, Abaqus, or Orca Flex.
- Deep understanding of hydrodynamics, structural integrity, and offshore installation fatigue.
- Familiarity with offshore construction vessels, heavy‑lift operations, and sea‑fastening designs.
- Problem‑Solving:
Ability to make critical technical decisions under pressure in a remote offshore environment. - Communication:
Strong command of English, with the ability to explain complex engineering concepts to non‑technical stakeholders. - Leadership: A mentor‑mindset with the ability to develop junior engineers and foster a safety‑first culture.
- Professional License:
Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Professional Engineer (PE) status is highly preferred. - Offshore Readiness:
Valid BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training) and offshore medical certification are required for site visits.
