Specialist Structural Engineer – Offshore FEED Project

K  is growing its Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team for an exciting, high‑profile offshore development in Abu Dhabi. The ADNOC PMC project role would be based initially in Contractors Office in Abu Dhabi for some time till administrative process is completed and the candidate will be then moving outside UAE (to an Asian Country - FEED location ) for 6 – 8 months and then returning to UAE.

The project duration is until 2028 with possible extension.

Job Purpose

The Specialist Structural Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise and oversight for structural engineering deliverables during the FEED phase of offshore oil & gas projects under Client PMC. The role ensures safe, reliable, and cost-effective structural design of offshore facilities in compliance with ADNOC standards and international codes.

Key Responsibilities
  • FEED Engineering & Structural Design
    • Review and oversee FEED structural design for offshore facilities including jackets, topsides, decks, wellhead platforms, bridges, modules, pipe racks, equipment support structures.
    • Ensure designs meet functional requirements, constructability and lifecycle performance.
    • Verify structural design basis, load cases and analysis methodologies.
  • PMC Oversight & Contractor Management
    • Review and approve EPC contractor deliverables such as structural calculations, drawings, and specifications.
    • Ensure contractor compliance with ADNOC Offshore standards, project requirements, and international codes.
    • Monitor engineering progress, highlight risks, and ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
    • Participate in technical bid evaluations and vendor assessments.
  • Structural Analysis & Design Verification
    • Review and validate structural analyses including in-place analysis (operating and extreme conditions), load-out, transportation and installation analyses, fatigue and seismic analysis.
    • Ensure accurate consideration of environmental loads (wave, wind, current, temperature).
    • Verify compliance with codes such as API RP 2A, ISO 19902, and DNV standards.
  • Offshore Structural Integrity
    • Ensure structural integrity through proper material selection, corrosion allowance, and protective systems.
    • Review design for durability and maintainability in marine environments.
    • Support development of inspection and maintenance philosophy.
  • Interface & Multidisciplinary Coordination
    • Coordinate with process, piping, mechanical, marine, geotechnical, and HSE teams.
    • Ensure integration of structural systems with offshore facilities and subsea infrastructure.
    • Support interface management between topsides and substructures.
  • Risk & Safety Considerations
    • Support HAZID, HAZOP, constructability, and SIMOPS reviews.
    • Identify structural risks such as overload, fatigue failure and installation challenges.
    • Ensure designs meet safety requirements and follow ALARP principles.
  • Fabrication, Installation & Constructability
    • Review fabrication drawings and ensure suitability for yard construction.
    • Evaluate load-out, lifting, and offshore installation strategies (e.g., crane, float-over).
    • Ensure constructability and modularization concepts are optimized.
  • Documentation & Reporting
    • Review and approve FEED deliverables including structural design basis and philosophies, general arrangement drawings, structural calculations and analysis reports.
    • Maintain technical records, action logs, and compliance registers.
    • Provide regular progress and technical updates to ADNOC Offshore PMC management.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Education
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering or equivalent
    • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is an advantage
  • Technical Expertise
    • Strong knowledge of offshore structural systems (jackets, topsides, modular structures)
    • International codes (API RP 2A, ISO 19902, DNV-ST standards)
    • Structural analysis software (e.g., SACS, STAAD, SESAM)
    • Experience in shallow water offshore projects in the Middle East is advantageous
  • Certifications (Preferred)
    • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent
    • Membership in professional bodies (ICE, IStruct

      E, ASCE)

    • Experience in WHT, subsea pipeline installation, and marine operations.
    • 12–15+ years of experience in structural engineering within oil & gas.
    • Prior experience working in PMC roles and ADNOC Offshore projects is highly preferred.
