Planning Engineer

Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed project schedules using recognized planning tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project in alignment with contract requirements and work breakdown structures (WBS).
- Establish logical sequencing of activities, milestones, and critical paths to ensure timely project delivery.
- Prepare baseline schedules and maintain schedule integrity through regular updates and revisions.
- Track project progress against planned schedules and identify deviations, delays, or risks.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and schedule narratives.
- Conduct schedule variance analysis, critical path analysis, and "what if" scenarios to support management decisions.
- Coordinate closely with project managers, site engineers, procurement, subcontractors, and clients to ensure alignment with the approved schedule.
- Participate in project meetings, planning sessions, and coordination reviews, providing professional planning input.
- Support claims, extension of time (EOT), and change management processes by providing accurate schedule analysis and records.
- Assist in manpower, equipment, and resource planning to ensure optimal utilization.
- Collaborate with cost control and commercial teams to align schedules with budgets and cash‑flow forecasts.
- Support earned value analysis (EVA) and productivity monitoring where applicable.
- Identify potential project risks related to time sequencing or resource availability.
- Propose mitigation strategies and recovery schedules to minimize delays.
- Maintain planning‑related risk registers and lessons learned for continuous improvement.
- Maintain all planning documentation, schedules, reports, and revisions in line with project and company procedures.
- Ensure compliance with contractual planning requirements, specifications, and reporting formats.
- Provide planning support during audits, reviews, and project close‑out activities.
- Education
:
Bachelor s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) or Construction Management. - Experience
:
Minimum 3 8 years of relevant experience as a Planning Engineer, preferably in construction, EPC, oil & gas, or infrastructure projects. Experience working on large?scale projects with multiple stakeholders is highly desirable. - Skills and Competencies
:- Technical Skills
:
Proficiency in planning and scheduling software such as Primavera P6 and/or MS Project. Strong knowledge of project scheduling techniques, CPM (Critical Path Method), and progress measurement methods. Good understanding of construction methodologies, project controls, and basic cost control principles. - Analytical and Organizational Skills
:
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex project data. High attention to detail and excellent organizational abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines. - Communication and Teamwork
:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and coordination. Ability to work collaboratively in multicultural and multidisciplinary project teams. Confident in presenting planning information to management and clients. - Personal Attributes
