Overview & Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly analytical and proactive Workshop Engineer (Turbo machinery) to join our growing operations at the KEZAD Free Zone facility in Abu Dhabi. This role is a cornerstone of our technical team, responsible for the engineering integrity and successful execution of complex projects involving steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, and pumps. As a Workshop Engineer, you will independently lead technical projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered within budget and schedule.
You will bridge the gap between high-level engineering theory and shop-floor execution, providing the technical expertise necessary to improve product systems, innovate new processes, and maintain our competitive edge in the turbo machinery industry.
Project Oversight:
Independently plan, budget, schedule, and direct the execution of technical projects, major applications, and tests. Objective Alignment:
Ensure all projects meet established objectives within allocated time, cost, and resource constraints. Systems Improvement:
Complete designated analytical, experimental, and application programs aimed at product/systems improvement, development, and cost reduction. Documentation:
Expand and improve design information procedures and practices, issuing all applicable technical documentation.
Design Control:
Review and approve design layouts and associated manufacturing drawings for all assigned projects and shop orders. Complex Calculations:
Perform advanced calculations using both analytical and computer-based methods (including finite-element analysis (FEA) and solids modeling). Programming & Modeling:
Utilize and/or develop computer programs to resolve engineering problems, including commercial software and self-designed programs (e.g., FORTRAN, BASIC, C++). Analysis Discernment:
Discern when to apply basic versus detailed analyses for various engineering challenges.
Technical Innovation:
Provide original ideas and innovation; collaborate with the corporate patent department on new ideas and patent applications. Knowledge Sharing:
Occasionally submit technical papers for publication and provide regular status updates and reports to supervision. Competitive Intelligence:
Institute new programs based on state-of-the-art technology and application processes to maintain market competitiveness. Strategy Alignment:
Maintain a deep understanding of company objectives, strategic plans, and technical roadmaps as they apply to products and systems.
Consultative Expertise:
Provide technical guidance to Application and Materials Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Project Management, Purchasing, Production, Service, and Associate Plants. Personnel Development:
Provide technical leadership and assist in the development of personnel within your assigned discipline. Inter-departmental Coordination:
Coordinate and follow up on activities across different departments to ensure proper phasing and timing of common objectives. Team Participation:
Active participation in Product Management Team activities as assigned.
